2020 Scio Flyers Club Newsletter
Welcome to the 2020 flying year. The Scio flyers have been flying at the Scio Field for over 30 years. The Club has grown over the years, and we continue to have a great flying field for all members to enjoy.
The Scio Flyers Club website can be found at www.scioflyers.com. Please use this website as a source for activities within the Club. Feel free to add your photos to the gallery or enter into a discussion on the forum page. The website is meant to be a focal point for the club and it's members.
The Club has two trainer planes with buddy boxes that can be used for new members that need flight training.
Please talk to one of the club officers to schedule flight training with one of our Flight instructors.
The Club has renewed its three year lease with Scio Township. The club has a very good relationship with our neighbors and we must continue to respect their land along with the Scio Township flying field.
The club was incorporated in 2010. Despite the corporate structure in place, the concerns regarding safety issues obviously remain relevant. None of us wish that our beloved sport should cause injury to persons or property. Under certain circumstances the "corporate shield" can be pierced resulting in liability to officers and members. We must self
police and use common sense at all times. Please be particularly mindful about flying near the school or adjacent residential properties. It will be incumbent upon all members to protect the flying field and "call out" any member flying in an unsafe manor or near or over the school. If we can't police our own ranks, we may have to resort to member fines or ejection from the club.
